Experimenting...
Okay, this is where I shall start experimenting with my webpage. I need some in-depth practice on advanced things like dHTML, XML, etc., even if I'm not going to put any of this stuff on my personal pages.
dHTML
This will only show on browsers capable of displaying dHTML, like Netscape 4.0 and IE 4.0. I usually don't do anything requiring the latest browsers, but that's why this is my experimentation page. Eventually, when I get to Flash animation, I will work on providing screenshots and animated gifs to let you see what it does.
- basic positioning using style-sheets
- overlapping layers
- Javascript animation
- animation in layers
- menu that opens another window
menu that changes visibility
More examples and tutorials of these kinds of dHTML menus are found on the Webmonkey and DHTML Zone. Also, Netscape has a javascript component to create menus.Java applets
- a user interface (with Sherlockian theme) demonstrating (GridBagLayout) layout and simple user interaction
- Colored Dot animation
- graphic animations
- hierarchical menu
